About the university:

Karadeniz Technical University (KTU), which was founded on the proposal of Trabzon Deputy Mustafa Reşit Tarakşoğlu and 28 of his friends was accepted by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey by Law No. 6594 of May 20, 1955, and is the first university established outside the provinces of Istanbul and Ankara. Eight years after its establishment, on September 19, 1963, the Faculty of Basic Sciences, Faculties of Building and Architecture, Faculties of Instruments, Electricity and Forestry were established by entrusting the directorate staff and teaching staff with Law No. 336. KTU started its education in the primary school building of Trabzon Atatürk Elementary School in Esentepe district on December 2, 1963 and moved to today's central campus in 1966. Continuing its development, KTU took on the staff of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Medicine with Law No. 1659 of January 4, 1973. After the enactment of Higher Education Law No. 2547 in 1981, KTU continued In growing continuously, therefore, new faculties and departments were opened within its body.

Today, within the scope of 12 faculties, 1 faculty, 8 vocational schools of KTU; 78 undergraduate programs and 34 associate degree programs; There are 80 master's programs and 57 doctoral programs in 6 institutes.
