About the university:
The 8,500-year-old Izmir, which has its roots in the Neolithic era, is one of the rare cities in the world with rich historical beauty, and it took its former name "Smyrna" from the Queen of the Amazons. Izmir, which has hosted many civilizations; Ardemisio-Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, contains the Agora of the Romans, the oldest known bridge in the Guinness Book of Records, and many other historical relics.
Having gained an important place in world and Mediterranean trade as a port city since the 16th century, Izmir is the province with the highest concentration of industry after Istanbul with its economic vitality. Domestic and foreign trade are highly developed in Izmir with its free zone, international fairs, organized industrial zones and large port. Izmir, the third largest city in Turkey, is the industrial, tourism and cultural center of the Aegean region.
Ege University, with its half-century history, is at the epicenter of education and culture in Izmir.
The university was established in Bornova, one of the largest districts of Izmir. The Bornova Campus consists of an area of 3450 acres and buildings used for education, culture, sports and social services.
