About the university:

Marmara University is one of the most established educational institutions in our country. Marmara University, which started its education in a house behind the Istanbul Girls' High School in Cagaloglu, under the name of Hamidiye Tikaret Mektepe Elici on January 16, 1883, under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce, Agriculture, Forestry and Mines, introduced its first graduates (13 people) in 1887. The school was abolished, which It was attached to the Ministry of Education on September 21, 1889, in 1893 in order to reopen and improve it in the future. It reopened on October 15, 1897, again under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, and has continued its educational activities without interruption ever since.

Our institution became the Istanbul Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences in 1959, and with the arrangements made in 1982, it took its place among Turkish higher education institutions under the name of Marmara University.
