About the university:

The conductors school was established with the aim of training technicians to participate in various public works activities such as the construction of roads, railways and bridges, the construction of which was accelerated in the Ottoman Empire. The official establishment of the school, which was put on the agenda in Parliament on May 11, 1911, was announced on July 31, 1911. The program of the “Ali” school, meaning the school leader’s school, having the status of a college, was limited to two years and education began in September of Same year.

Since there was no time to build a private building, the Salih Efendi Palace, known today as the Health Museum, in Divaniolo was assigned to the school and Hazem Bey, a teacher of algebra and mathematics, was appointed as the first principal. Because of the Tripoli War, which began a few weeks after the opening of the school, only 14 students were able to graduate from two branches of 40 each in 1913. The institution, which witnessed the Balkan wars and the First World War, and then the occupation of Istanbul, continued its education without interruption, despite having to To change places frequently.
